Even though a cricket team consists of eleven players who are all talented, not everyone gets to became the captain.

This is basically because that under pressure situations people tend to work in teams and that is when the need for a leader arises. 

Bonds which are created during crux situations last long and are more meaningful.

The first thing to do is to evaluate your team mates. Though it may not be possible always but make sure that you make a note of your team mates in times of crisis. Find out the performer, people who withdraw and those who survive at the cost of others.

The next step would be to share your finding after the crisis is over. The discussions can be done with the team or individually. Talking in person will make your team mates to do better in the future. 

Make it a point that you get feedback from the team as to what worked and what did not during the crisis, ensure that this is done within a short span of the crisis. 

You do not have to always wait for a crisis situation to test your team's strength. During normal times whenever there is opportunity push your team mates to the limit and give them greater responsibilities. Just tell them what you want from them instead of telling how to do it. Never appoint the same incharge always instead use them to mentor others.

Never became a bully among your group, everyone does mistake and if one team mate does a genuine mistake instead of punishing him/her, give more confidence and get them rid of fear.
