Do these advices really work at office any more?

There are various advices given by almost everyone when taking up a new job.

Times have changed, industries have revolutionised, but some of templated career tips are still being followed which have to be stopped from sharing.

The first advice which has to come to end is the no sharing of personal life with your colleagues or boss. Even if shared it should be minimal.

Sharing can actually be a good thing and why should it be prevented. Both you and the person to whom you are sharing are humans and there is a life beyond office.

Next on the list is to prevent that help is not needed. This will just result in wasting precious time. Always remember everyone has something new to learn and unless your boss or colleague is short tempered, ufriendly, awful and impatient person, they will be more than happy to help you and offer inputs.

There was once a respected advice of not befriending your boss in facebook or following him/her in Instagram. But with the present scenario as long as you don't abuse your boss, organisation or post something inappropriate there is no reason to follow this advice whatsoever.

Most people advice to stop thinking of office after the stipulated hours. This is not practically possible, as a new idea can sprout at any time and at anyplace. One cannot simply brush away that idea since it did not come during the office hours.

Similarly when you are on the job it does not mean that you have to miss something that is very important for your personal life. Trying to separate personal and professional life can be very difficult .

The most important of all the tips is never challenge the boss. If the manager is someone who is really concerned about your growth and the development of the company, they will want you to speak up.

While there are few more old school advice some of it may  apply to you while the other bits can be gleefully tossed aside in favour of less archaic professional advice.
