Phrases to be avoided in office

A word once said cannot be taken back and it is always wise to think twice before saying something.

This rule becomes all the more important  in an office environment.  A wrong phrase can put down the moral of the employee indirectly affecting their performance.

An article in success.com reveals a few phrases that should be avoided in a working environment.

'It's not fair' - Life is not fair and using this phrase will make you look immature.

'This is the way it's always been done' - This is one of the oldest phrases of all. Things change quickly in the modern world and it is important that you adapt to the changing times.

'No problem' - This is the first phrase that comes to your mind when someone thank you. This will make people feel that people have imposed on you. Instead you can try saying 'It is my pleasure' or 'I will be happy to take care of that.'

'I think/This might be a silly idea/I’m going to ask a stupid question.'

There is nothing such thing called as silly idea and this will undermine the skills of the people.

'This will only take a minute' - This will make people think that you rush through your work in a hurry. Instead of saying that say people that it won't take long.

'I'll try' - This suggests that you tentatively are not confident about the work. This also mean that you won't try hard to complete the task.

'I can't' - 'I can’t is it’s not my fault’s twisted sister. People don’t like to hear I can’t because they think it means I won’t. Saying I can’t suggests you’re not willing to do what it takes to get the job done,' the article states.
